We have great news to share! As you know, our executive committee met on December 15 to review a connectivity concern for the network of trails managed by DFLT, State Land Department, Town of Cave Creek, and Maricopa County. The Land Trust’s trail hours (dawn to dusk) were the most restrictive of this group of landowners. State Land Department and the Town have no hours, and the County has hours of 6 am – 8 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 6 am – 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. Cave Creek Cactus Classic Results & Photos

Eric Salstrand (Bicycle Haus Racing) and Kata Skaggs (Adventure Bike Company) topped the podium Saturday at the Cave Creek Cactus Classic. NIGHT RIDES AT McDowell Mountain Park – Important Info

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE NIGHT RIDES AT MMP The summer night rides at McDowell Mountain Regional Park (the Park) have steadily grown with record attendance numbers of 160+ at the first ride this year and 180+ last Saturday.  The record attendance has added a whole new level to the festival atmosphere with experience levels ranging from beginners to the well-seasoned rider.  With the growth and broad range of age and experience levels come a few challenges.  At the conclusion of the first two night rides this year there were several riders that did not sign out upon completing their ride. …

Brown’s Ranch Trails Report Now Available

Desert Foothills Mountain Bike Association has just released the Brown’s Ranch Trails Report prepared by renowned trail consultant Woody Keen of Trail Wisdom, LLC. In February 2014, DFMBA hired Mr. Keen to conduct site visits, work shops and an assessment of the partially complete 150 mile trail system in the Brown’s Ranch section of the Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The Brown’s Ranch Site Visit Report assessment and recommendations were presented to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission and the City of Scottsdale staff at the public Commission meeting on May 1st. Gooseneck Trail – Brown’s Ranch to Tom’s Thumb

It is very exciting to announce the new McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Gooseneck Trail that connects, via single track, the northern 15,000 acre Brown's Ranch, the southern 15,000 acre McDowell Mountains and the 21,000 acre McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The new trail starts at the Fraesfield Trailhead in the southeast corner of Brown's Ranch (Dynamite and 136th). For 3/4 of a mile the trail runs west paralleling Dynamite and then crosses Dynamite at the 128th St. intersection. Desert Foothills Mountain Bike Association continues its advocacy work with the City of Scottsdale on the development of a broader spectrum of trail types in the Brown's Ranch area of the Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve. We just completed a DFMBA sponsored four-day visit from renowned trail consultant Woody Keen. Monday morning a review meeting was held including nearly 20 people from DFMBA, IMBA, City of Scottsdale staff, McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commissioners and the trail building contractors.
